Did You Show UP Today?

August 1, 2016 1 Comment

The older I get the more I realize that time is fleeting. We never know what tomorrow holds or if for us, will it ever come. Much is taught about vision and dreams for the future and I have blogged on it myself. However, if we are not careful, our dreams for the future can become an excuse to not act today. Dreams become a cover for our fears of failure. It is easier to dream about “someday” than to take risk and act on today.

“In short: Show up.” – Seth Godin

Seems like I have always been a “someday” kind of person. When I was very small my aunt would ask me to spend the night at her house. I loved my aunt (she was more like a second mom) but I was afraid of being away from my parents. My response would always be: “Morrow day.” As the old saying goes, “Tomorrow never comes.”

Every day is a gift from God so I need to unwrap each one and enjoy it before it expires.

I am doing my best to take advantage of each and every day. I need to show up and give 100%+, not only for each day but each moment. Each moment deserves 100% of me. I need to show up.

Showing up can be scary and full of risk. What if something goes wrong? Well what if it does? Despite how hard we try life will never be neat and tidy. Let us show up and take on the new adventure that begins each morning.

  • I need to show up for Jesus who gave his very own life to restore my relationship with God
  • I need to show up for my wife of 29+ years. She has blessed me beyond measure. (I married way above myself)
  • I need to show up for three wonderful kids (now adults themselves) and help them show up each day.
  • I need to show up for my church to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus
  • I need to show up for my job and give it 110%
  • I need to show up for me. Today is the perfect day to take that next step to make my dreams a reality.

Time will never slow down and in a blink it is gone. Today is a great day.

Now is the right time. Let’s show up!

Where do you need to show up?  Do you feel stuck or have a hard time showing up for each day? Send me an email and let’s talk it through. Let me show up for you.
