About Me

I am enthusiastic about helping others discover their purpose and grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus. It is great to see their eyes light up at their “Ah Ha!” moment when they discover they were created for something more. My hope is that this blog will help encourage and inspire you along your way.  Join the conversation and take the time to share with me your own story.

If I need to use labels, I describe myself as Husband, Father, Pastor, Blogger / Writer, Leadership Coach and Speaker, but you can just call me Jon.

I write about faith and life lived fully for Jesus Christ. I hope to encourage the reader to find a deeper faith that leads to living a life that is all in for Jesus. To help you find a life that grows continually in leadership and influence that impacts your family, ministry and community. And finally squeezing every last drop out of the life we are meant to live.

I am learning to be proactive and intentional because life should not be left up to chance. My writing is real, and it often relates to my own struggles and successes.

I do my best to post each Monday. I occasionally post on Wednesday’s with a book review or guest writer. To make sure you do not miss out on my newest posts,  Sign up for free updates. Then be sure and connect on Facebook!

If you really want to know more…

I have been married to my beautiful wife Janice for over 30 years. It is wonderful to have an outstanding partner on this adventure of life. We currently live in McDonough, Georgia (about 20 miles south of Atlanta) with our daughter Victoria. Our two boys now have families of their own (we have two wonderful grand-kids) Of course I cannot forget about our dog Bear. Bear is pure mutt and I can’t wait until he grows out his puppy phase.

I serve with my wife, Janice as Co-Pastor of Life Church, a Foursquare Church in Conyers, Georgia. Janice serves in the role as Lead Pastor.  We work together to cast the vision and shepherd a wonderful group of people.

I am employed as a Configuration Specialist with InComm in Atlanta, Georgia.  I have been with InComm since January of 2007. Please do not ask me what a Configuration Specialist is. I struggle to explain it well. Let’s just say that if you have bought a pre-paid gift card, wireless or long distance phone card, there is a chance I played a small role in making sure the card worked.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Shorter University.

When I can find the time I enjoy history, hiking and photography. I am also an avid reader. I do have to admit though, my favorite weekends are the ones with nothing planned.

Thanks again for taking the time to visit.

My blog is built on WordpPress (self-hosted). I use WP-Professional theme, a premium WordPress theme by SoloStream. I chose it for its rich features and clean look. It does not distract from the content. It was simple to install and configure.
For my blog hosting I use 1 & 1. I have been using them since 2009 and they are very reliable and inexpensive with quality support.

For my writing I use a combination of Evernote, Microsoft Word and Scrivener. Scrivener is growing to be my primary tool for all my writing. It is one of the most robust writing tools. If you are writing a simple journal or a full length book, it is the tool to use. It allows for easy organization, planning and even ebook creation. I also suggest the Scrivener Coach for great tutorials on the tool.

I am still a Window’s guy so my workhorse is the HP Pavilion Notebook running Window 10. For longer writing days I add the Logitech K350 wireless Keyboard and a second monitor.

For the bulk of my Bible Research I use Logos Bible Software. For my personal Bible study I use the ESV Illuminated Bible, Art Journaling Edition, YouVersion Bible App (Bible.com), and BibleGateway For sermon prep I use the ESV Study Bible and I preach using the CSB.

Photo editing I use a combination of Gimp, Adobe Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. Video Editing I use Filmora9
