What is in Your Hand?

April 13, 2015 2 Comments

Several months ago on John Michael Morgan’s blog he proposed the question “Is your Excuse worth your success?” This is a very important question for anyone.

What is in your hands

“Until you accept the fact that your current circumstances can be changed by you, don’t expect things to change. “ – John Michael Morgan

I used to be the master of dreaming for “one day.” I had all these things I wanted to do but I always told myself why I couldn’t do them today.

  •  When I have enough money
  • When life is not quite so busy
  • When I have a better education
  • When the kids are a little older
  • Etc, etc, etc, etc

In a blink of an eye, years have passed and the excuses continue to flood in.

There is a great story in the Bible. Jesus had been teaching a large crowd and the day was growing late. Jesus disciples came to him and suggested that He send the people away so they would still have time to find something to eat. Jesus responded, “You give them something to eat.” The disciples began to make the excuse that they did not have enough money. Jesus pressed, “What is in your hand?” All they could come up with was just two fish and five loaves of bread and they had to get them from a small boy. Jesus takes the small lunch blesses it and everyone is fed and the disciples have to clean up the leftovers.

Now I realize that God may not do that kind of miracle everyday (Although he can); the principle is what we need to focus on.

The disciples spent so much time looking at what they did not have they missed on what they had. Life is always full of challenges so there really is not a perfect time.

We need to be diligent to change our perspective and focus on what we do have. Next we need to bless what we have.

As long as we focus on our excuses we will never accomplish success. Quit waiting for, ‘One day’ and quit waiting for luck. – Today is the day and today you can do one thing even if it is small. Do that every day and a year from now those small things add up.

No more excuses; change your focus from what you don’t have to what is in your hand today!

So leave a comment and let me know what you have in your hand.
