We Are So Much More
“[Jesus] seemed stubbornly unwilling to accept that Zaccheus was a mere tax collector or that lepers were merely lepers. for Jesus, there was always a person beneath the labels – precious, complex and quite capable of growth.” – Michael Jordan, Preaching Magazine
Jesus was stubbornly unwilling to see people by their outward appearance or to define them by their job. People are so much more than what we see. Even those people that we would define as evil or vile are still created in the image of a Holy God who is madly passionately in love with them. He longs to redeem them and bring them into His righteousness.
I am passionate about helping others find their personal calling that God had designed for them. I have to be very careful to remember that God loves us so much more than our calling or ministry. He loves us more than what we do.
I pray that each day I will grow to see people that way. To see them as precious, complex and quite capable of growth. That guy that cut me off on the road is made in the image of God. My sight will change as I continue to fellowship with the Father. Only as I grow close to him do I become (or is it I discover something that was already there) what I was created for. Only when I humble myself and submit completely (go all in ) to his will do I begin to see with his eyes. See beyond the failures and shortcomings. See beyond when someone treats me wrong.
I also have to see beyond my own sin and failures. I must always accept the forgiveness of Christ and recognize that in Him and only him am I complete. As I give myself away, I discover I gain all God has for me. His all is so much better than what I can create or produce.
At the end of the day, God cares more about a relationship with us than anything else. It really is about us! – We are so much more!
Give me your eyes Lord and anoint my mind to understand what I am seeing. Let me see what you see, a people who are designed and loved by you. Help me to slow down and catch what the Holy Spirit is doing in each moment of the day. Then anoint my tongue to speak the right words at the right time, so that hearts will turn to you and you will be glorified. In Jesus name, Amen
Now it is your turn. I would love to hear from you.
1. What do you see in other people?
2. What do you see when you look at yourself?
