A Cause Greater Than a Flag

I am literally sick over the ongoing racial debates on social media. Just a few weeks ago it was the issue in McKinney and now the Confederate flag. Like the Bible, people find it easy to cherry pick history to prove their point. However, it is unlikely you will change someone’s mind or their heart. The only thing that happens is a wedge is driven deeper between the races. It does not lead to unity but to division.

I love my country (it is far from perfect) but at the end of the day my only allegiance is to Christ. He has called me to die to my own desires and agendas. My ability and call to share the love of Christ is greater than to win a debate. It is greater than the need to prove my point as right. As long as we focus on these temporal issues satan will sit back and laugh at our folly. Only Christ can change a person’s heart so let our energies be spent making disciples.

To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 1 Corinthians 6:7 (ESV)

About the Author:

I am enthusiastic about helping others discover their purpose and grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus. It is great to see their eyes light up at their “Ah Ha!” moment when they discover they were created for something more. My hope is that this blog will help encourage and inspire you along your way. Join the conversation and take the time to share with me your own story. I have been married to my beautiful wife Janice for over 30 years. We currently live in McDonough Georgia with our daughter. Our two boys have left the nest and we have two wonderful grand kids. Of course we cannot forget about our dog Bear.
