I Am A Writer

June 8, 2012 9 Comments

It is time to quit running scared. It is time to quit playing it safe. I need to quit making excuses and finally admit that I am a writer.

First I need to issue a permanent retraction. Back in March I wrote a blog, “I really am not a writer.” Consider this an official retraction of that statement. All of what I have written of why I write holds true, but as of today I am a writer.

If I am honest, I will admit that I claimed I was not a writer out of fear and a desire to play it safe. That ends today.

From now own I will act and speak as the writer that I am. I will embrace the unknown and quit playing it safe. For you see, I am a writer and I have something to say.

I have been encouraged by the book, You are a Writer by Jeff Goins. (A great book even if you are not a writer). Jeff has pushed me over the edge to make this declaration.

I am still a follower of Jesus, a husband, a father, a pastor and now I add a writer to that list.

I encourage you to challenge me and hold me true to my words. Feel free to ask me often: “Hey Jon are you a a writer?”

 I AM A WRITER!!

 Let me hear from you.

  1.  How about you, are you a writer?
  2.  If you are not a writer who are you? Do you live your life true to who you are?
  3. What is holding you back?
  4.  How have you been playing it safe? How will you embrace the unknown and take risk that lead to your success?

About the Author:

I am enthusiastic about helping others discover their purpose and grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus. It is great to see their eyes light up at their “Ah Ha!” moment when they discover they were created for something more. My hope is that this blog will help encourage and inspire you along your way. Join the conversation and take the time to share with me your own story. I have been married to my beautiful wife Janice for over 30 years. We currently live in McDonough Georgia with our daughter. Our two boys have left the nest and we have two wonderful grand kids. Of course we cannot forget about our dog Bear.
