2015 – 365 New Days
If you are like me (and a lot of other people) you have been putting a lot of thought into your goals for 2015. We like to begin a new year thinking of what we want to accomplish by December a year from now. All the experts tell us we need to create new goals and detailed plans to make each one a reality. But what if this is the wrong way to go about it? What if all the experts are wrong?
I love to dream about my future and making sure I stay on track to live out my purpose God has called me too. However, I have come to believe that perhaps the journey is just as important as the destination. It is so easy to focus on where we want to go we miss out on all the wonderful destinations along the way.
A great example can be found in Mark 5:21-34 – Jairus had come to ask Jesus to come to his house to heal his sick daughter. Jesus immediately left to go with him. On the way a woman with an issue of blood pressed through the crowd and touched Jesus. Jesus felt her touch and took the time to stop and heal her. Jesus was not so focused on his destination that he missed (or ignored) the woman who needed help at that moment. Even though Jesus took the time to stop and minster to her he still made it to Jairus’ house and brought his daughter back to life. The journey and the destination were both important.
Yes, I have goals and dreams I want to accomplish in 2015 but I don’t want to miss out on the 365 days along the journey. I want to live them out to the fullest.
