The Glory of the Resurrection
Death has come. Deep within the tomb is darkness. A sealed tomb designed to never again see the light of day. God was not done yet; the work of Christ his only begotten son was not yet complete. Three days had passed and Jesus had taken the keys of death, hell and the grave from Satan so angels were dispatched from heaven. Their hands and mighty shoulders pressed against the large round stone. It moved easily as the sound of scrapping stone on stone, like that of millstone grinding wheat, broke the early morning silence. Light rushed into the darkness and the air of this earth once again filled the lungs of Jesus our savior, our redeemer. The angels began to unwrap the cloths of death for they were no longer needed. Jesus, not in a hurry, felt no need to rush. The head of Satan was now crushed. He took the cloth that once covered his face and intentionally folded it and laid it to the side.
He stepped out into the light of a new day and the world would never be the same. Not only did he die for a debt we owed for sin, he came back to life destroying the curse of death. The seal on the tomb was broken and new seal was created for those that believe on Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They will spend eternity with him and he will call them his children.
It is incredible to think that our God who is so madly passionately in love with us would give his only son so that once again we can live in a right relationship with him. (John 3:16)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
Easter is no ordinary day. On Easter we celebrate the defeat of sin and death. We live in the hope and promise of Jesus return when all things will be made right. So let us live with boldness and confidence a life for his glory. Let us look with expectation for the return of our King.
