My One Word for 2015

January 19, 2015 15 Comments

As I am a fairly avid blog reader I kept seeing people picking a single word to set a theme for 2015. At first I did not think much about it and wrote it off to just a social media fad. I have not read Mike Ashcraft’s book titled My One Word.  However, the one word topic kept showing up and a word popped into my head.

Generous

I tucked the word in the back of my mind an let it marinate and bake a while. Finally last week I reveled my word in a comment on Matt Ham’s podcast where he interviewed Ashcraft along with Rachel Olsen.

My one word for 2015 is Generous!

You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. – 2 Corinthians 9:11 (Thanks Matt for scripture reference)

Life can be a chore but it is so much more wonderful when we are generous. Dictionary.com defines it as: “Liberal in giving, or sharing; unselfish…. Free from the meanness or smallness of mind or character; magnanimous… large; abundant; ample; rich or strong in flavor; fertile; prolific.”

Now that is way to live our life. I want to be liberal in giving, free from the smallness of mind and rich in flavor. Any of these definitions if lived out, would lead to a great and successful life.

In 2015 I will be Generous!

  • A generous follower of Jesus Christ
  • A generous husband
  • A generous father of my three wonderful children and one daughter in-law
  • A generous Pastor / Servant of Life Church in Conyers GA
  • A generous worker for InComm

I pray that I will be able to be generous in all that I do this year.

Have you picked a word for this year? Let me know in the comments below.
