2012 A Blogging Year in Review

December 31, 2012 0 Comments

Although I did not post as often as I would have liked, it has been a great year for my blog, and I have enjoyed a year of writing.

Here are few of my top posts:

 Faith

When Ministry Becomes an Idol

I am very passionate about my calling and living out a life of ministry. I also believe deeply that I am called to help others discover how to live out their own calling. However, I have learned that if I am not careful I can pursue ministry more than I pursue God. In fact, I had allowed ministry to become an idol in my life.

We Are So Much More

Jesus was stubbornly unwilling to see people by their outward appearance or to define them by their job. People are so much more than what we see. Even those people that we would define as evil or vile are still created in the image of a Holy God who is madly passionately in love with them. He longs to redeem them and bring them into His righteousness.

 Leadership

5 Leadership Lessons from HBO’s Band of Brothers

I really cannot comprehend what it is like to experience standing before an enemy who is doing everything within their power to take your life. It is under those circumstances that the evidence of or lack of leadership becomes apparent.

Snatching Time

I hear it all the time. I do not have enough time to read my Bible. I do not have enough time to take that class, exercise, spend time with family etc. And I hear it most often from “me!” I am trying to discipline myself to snatch every little bit of time I have.

 Life

Do you cut outside the lines?

Although it was 43 years ago, there is a certain day in Kindergarten that I can see as clear as the day it happened. It was Groundhog Day. Just before recess our teachers handed out large pieces of brown construction paper with the outline of a groundhog. Our instructions were simple: Cut out the groundhog on the line.

 Gentile Giant, Remembering Dad

My dad was well over 6 feet tall and 250 pounds. So my memories of him were always as a gentle giant towering over me. I was always enthralled with how he could easily scoop me up and carry me on his shoulders. My time with my dad was way too short. When he died on February 13th 1976, I was just 11 years old. My world would never be the same.

Now it is your turn. I would love to hear from you.

Who were your favorite bloggers and/or favorite blog posts of 2012?

About the Author:

I am enthusiastic about helping others discover their purpose and grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus. It is great to see their eyes light up at their “Ah Ha!” moment when they discover they were created for something more. My hope is that this blog will help encourage and inspire you along your way. Join the conversation and take the time to share with me your own story. I have been married to my beautiful wife Janice for over 30 years. We currently live in McDonough Georgia with our daughter. Our two boys have left the nest and we have two wonderful grand kids. Of course we cannot forget about our dog Bear.
